Music is a compulsory subject in Year 7 and 8, and optional from Year 9-13. Students wishing to take music as an option from Year 9 onwards should be learning, or starting to receive tuition on their chosen performance instrument to increase the likelihood of Merit or Excellence credits at NCEA level.
We encourage students who take Music as an option from Year 7-13 to learn an instrument within our extensive music programme.
